Happy new year everyone, here's to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2012. Well to kick start the new year. Here's a little illo I did for S Magazine just before christmas. The illo was to go with a feature about a mistress (tut tut) waiting for her married lover in a hotel suite and can we guess what happened? yes he didn't show. Moral of the story don't go there ha. My second picture is actually an old illustration revised. I loved this piece intially but I knew it could be improved so waalaa hey presto and here it is.

Where's the time gone?

Seriously where has the time gone? it's nearly christmas already. The last few months have been amazing and I've literally not stopped, exciting times ahead so watch this space. Need to get a hang of blogging and working because I'm clearly miserable at it. So from now on more blogging…. brownie promise!. One of my very recent commissions was for the lovely people at S magazine and it was to produce 12 illustrations for a beauty advent calender. see images.

Dubai and The Dutchess

Busy busy couple of weeks and these two illustrations are two of four that kept me from my precious sleep for so long. Obviously a joy to do, don't get me wrong. The Kate middleton was the quickest illustration I've had to do for a client so far, two and a half days with other commitments to finish aswell eek! But I did it and thank god they loved it.

My Dubai map is another illustration for National Geographic Traveller Magazine and as ever doing this map has just made me want to travel there. Dubai has been added to my long list of places I now need to visit as well as Rome and Vietnam thanks to National Geographic, this is actually going to cost me a small fortune.

Broadening my horizons

For the last 3 weeks I've been on my own personal mission to broaden my portfolio, get some images in there that shows I can draw pretty much whatever a client wants, just obviously in my style. These are just a couple, the plan is to do many many more. Alpine Diary

This lovely 1900's inspired illustration was commissioned for Woman's Weekly Magazine to accompany the short story "Alpine Diary". One thing I love about new commissions is the research involved, so for this one I spent probably too much time looking into fashion in the 1900's, something let's face it, I probably wouldn't even think of doing.

New Year Horoscopes

This commission for S magazine, I think was by far my favourite commission all year. I was able to be uber glam and girlie, with lots of creative free reign which I absolutely loved. All in all there was 4 main illustrations and 12 accompanying symbols. The deadline was tight so not much sleep was had, but a midway thank you from the writer of the horoscopes was an amazing pick me up.

Veronicas winter wonderland

Over the years as I've paved my way in this industry, there's been one company who has been there from the very start and championed me all the way. These wonderful souls are Robert Broad Travel, a luxury travel firm, who I've had the pleasure of producing fab travel inspired illustrations for a good few years now. This seasonal illustration was used as their Christmas mail out 2010.

Ok so the blogs begins, wish me luck! So late December I was commissioned to create this illustration for the first UK edition of National Geographic Traveller Magazine. It luckily went down a storm and I'm now one of their regular illustrators, well done me. It meant a lot as I'd spent a week, sleep deprived and going stare crazy, mocking up two examples of maps. trying my little hardest to prove I'm not just a one trick pony and I can do bleeding good maps. I like to think the fact they want to use me again means I succeeded, surely.
